Default ruins of surmia bonus?

I found the guy that gives the bonus mission (excuish the flame temple by destroying the flame keepers) but i cannot find a way to complete it. Where can i find these flame keepers? The gate, (which i think leads to bonus mission) near the guy that gives the quest, is closed and i cannot proceed!

HELP!

When you talk to the person who gives the bonus back along the path you came from you should see some flame keepers walking slowly.

Follow them, don't agro them.

Once they get to a gate you can kill them and go through the gate.

Turn left and there will be an, alter for lack of a better word, with 4 more of them. Kill them and you're done, continue on your way.

Have fun.

The exact point is when Rurik waits to you for open the gate, then you must go back and down to the river. Don't rush or you won't see them coming from a different path.

And the important point is DON'T kill the Ember Bearers until they get to and open the gate.

I've played the mission a few times and with a 50% chance some idiot party member did aggro'ed them, despite my REPEATED warnings not to attack them .

Keep a good distance from those Charr that come down carrying the brazier thing. Follow a good distance behind them until they lead you all the way to a gate door sort of thing. As soon as it's open, slaughter them. Continue through the now opened door and destroy the flame keepers.

When I did it the first time we got it just fine because everyone listened. Then on one of my following characters (I believe my elementist) I was in a group of 3 W/*s (I know bad choice) 2 of them aggroed the ember bearers (despite repeated warnings) while me and the other warrior were standing well back cursing at them. We were letting them die to be resed later. After it was safe we resed one and he immediately reaggroed them even though they were on their way. He died. So we didnt res him for a while until they were far enough away that the mentality would kick in and say not to aggro. Despite this the one remaining ember bearer made it to the gate and we still got the bonus.

I found the ember bearers, but they drop the urn or whatever they're carrying just before they exit the water and head up the hill (it gets hung up on the side of the cliff or something and they walk out from under it). Then, when they get to the gate, it doesn't open presumably becuase they no longer have their urn full of coals. I've tried this several times with the same result.

Anyone else have this happen? Can I do something to prevent this?

Oh, and if you do wind up agro'ing them, is there a way to get them to stop chasing without having to die? They chased me half way around the map before I ran into a spot where I got trapped by them (was trying to have them chase so as not to get hung up and drop the urn). I haven't tried it yet, but they seem to have an affinity for that gate once they get to it. Maybe if I ran past that, they would have the same affinity and stop chasing me?

quicker way to do it is talk to the abbot guy who gives you the bonus, then aggro the carriers and lead them to the gate. they run there instead of walking there. run up against the gate and turn on them once they get close enough to open the gate.
